Meet Joe!

Joe Fitzgerald, President of Fitzgerald Consulting, Inc. and Lobbyist for the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce

Joe Fitzgerald is a husband, dad, son, brother, nephew, friend, volunteer firefighter, University of Delaware alumnus, Irishman, still ardent (at his age) Led Zeppelin fan, and small business owner.

Joe Fitzgerald is President of Fitzgerald Consulting, a government relations, and an economic development consulting firm, with clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to nonprofit organizations. Joe started Fitzgerald Consulting, Inc. in December of 2004, and has been in business for nearly 16 years.

Fitzgerald Consulting has a range of business relationships in several states, as well as in Ireland. In addition to legislative advocacy, Joe has worked with Chambers of Commerce, businesses, academic institutions, and government officials in Ireland. Joe's focus is on fostering relationships between business incubators, Delaware entities with incubators, and educational institutions in Ireland. Most of Fitzgerald Consulting's marketing efforts are focused on website, print, sponsorship, and of course, word of mouth.

Joe has been quite busy during the COVID-19 pandemic helping clients navigate the regulatory landscape and advocating on their behalf. Not only has Joe been a member of the Chamber since 2004, before his role as President of Fitzgerald Consulting, but he was also the vice president for government affairs for four years at the Chamber. 

According to Joe, the Chamber was formative in his professional life and remains very important to him and is now dedicated to lobbying efforts to assist Delaware businesses. Apart from government relations, the Economic Development Council and the Chamber's broader economic development efforts are the areas that Joe has benefited during his professional career.

We asked Joe, "how has the Chamber helped your business?" Joe's response was, "In a word, credibility, representing the Chamber afforded me that when I was new to my profession and in the years since. It has been an honor and a privilege to represent what I believe to be the premier business organization in the State of Delaware for nearly 20 years."

Joe's constant motivation is love for his family and friends. After that is service, he enjoys spending time with his family, and on a local level, he enjoys spending time at his fire station and gym – which is often the gym at the firehouse where he volunteers. Joe visits Ireland frequently to see family and dear friends.

We also asked Joe, "what advice would you give new Chamber members?" In his words, Joe responded, "You get out of your chamber experience what you put into it. It has made all of the difference for me. I would tell members to network to build relationships and to take advantage of the array of events and programs that the Chamber has to offer. There is something for businesses of all sizes and in all industries.
