Who is Bruce?

Bruce Rushton, CEO of The Growth Coach of Northern Delaware

How many years have you been in business?

The Growth Coach of Northern Delaware was started two years ago.

What is an interesting fact about your business most people don’t know?

The Growth Coach of Northern Delaware works with small business owners and executives in Delaware who want to intentionally grow their business through strategic planning, wildly import goal identification and execution, and employee training and development. An interesting fact about our business is the same activities and objectives we suggest for the small business we serve are standard operating procedures in larger Fortune 500 companies.  In other words, the structure, activities, and people development initiatives that we work to implement with our clients in Delaware are the same initiatives that occur in large organizations. It is why those large organizations are successful.

What motivates you?

My passion is helping people…helping them increase their knowledge, wisdom, and understanding; helping them succeed. To me, there is nothing better than working with a struggling business owner and helping them navigate the challenges that hold them back, and then seeing them succeed and grow the business. I also enjoy being part of the team creating, implementing, and executing strategies to take successful businesses to their next level of success. That is why I opened The Growth Coach of Northern Delaware.

When you’re not working, where do you like to spend your time?

When I am not working, I spend my time with my family and my beautiful wife Fresha. I also make time to coach travel basketball in the Spring and Summer.

Why are you a Chamber member? How long have you been a Chamber member?

We have been a member of the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce for two years. We joined the chamber for the opportunity to meet and interact with leaders of the business community in Delaware. As a new company, it was important for us to begin to build our brand and create an awareness of the services we provide. The chamber allowed us to do that.

What aspect of the chamber have you taken advantage of the most?

I have taken advantage of both the many networking opportunities the chamber offers and the facilities. Also, I’ve hosted many workshops and training sessions for my clients using the chamber’s conference rooms.

What advice would you give a new (or current) chamber member?

My advice is to get involved. Make sure you understand all the benefits that the chamber provides and get involved in all of them. Get involved with the networking aspects of the chamber. Get involved with the business educational aspects of the chamber. Get involved with the marketing and advertising aspects of the chamber using the member portal. There are so many benefits that the chamber has to offer. Get involved in all of them. The chamber is a small financial investment, a larger time investment, but an investment that pays if you get involved.

How has the chamber changed the way you do business?

Prior to opening my business, networking was not an essential part of my work life.  Now that networking is essential for my business’s success, the chamber has helped make that change a little easier by providing multiple opportunities to network.

The Growth Coach is a valued member and partner of the Chamber. Thank you, Bruce for all your support.
