State budget projections for this year and next a promising

The Second Session of the 149th General Assembly has already gotten off to a better start than the first.  The beginning of session, which began on Tuesday, January 13, came on the heels of a December revenue forecast from the Delaware Economic and Financial Advisory Council indicating that there is no projected budget gap for this year or the year to follow.  State government is expected to end the fiscal year with an additional $31.2 million in revenue; and is projected to bring in an additional $87.6 million in Fiscal Year 2019.  These welcome projections stand in stark contrast to the nearly $400 million budget gap faced by legislators and the incoming Carney Administration last year.
