Benefits cliffs are a hidden problem undermining the American workforce. Everyday workers who receive low income are forced to make conservative decisions for their lives, finances, and families because of the threat and fear of hitting a benefits cliff. Unfortunately, no one knows if they will hit a benefits cliff, until after it has already happened. Many public benefits recipients make financially conservative decisions out of fear of hitting a benefits cliff, including turning down pay raises, more hours at work, and advancements in their careers, out of this fear.
