Description

Come out and get a jump start on getting back in shape by exploring the old dairy farm owned by the DuPont Family that is currently the Brandywine Creek State Park for a moderate hike along the Brandywine River. We will start at the Park Office and hike down to and along the Brandywine Creek by way of the Tulip Tree Woods. We will see trees as old as 225 Years, including tall, straight tulip trees and majestic oaks. Throughout the hike we will pass along "blue rock" stone walls, marking boundaries between landholdings. We will cross over the Brandywine River and head uphill from Thompson Bridge Road to climb the blue rock cliffs and hike along Rocky Run Trail as we make our way to cross over a beautiful view of the Brandywine from the site of an old fieldstone mill. From there we will return along the river and make our way uphill back to the parking lot. This is a great hike that will get the blood flowing and the heart pounding with a nice blend of flat and uphill hiking. Following the hike, we will welcome anyone with a good appetite to join us at a local eatery. there is also a parking fee. Registration required.
