2019 David J. Freschman Entrepreneur of the Year

Each year, the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce recognizes a CEO or Business Owner who has put everything on the line in order to translate an idea into the viable, sustainable enterprise. The CEO or business Owner should have passion, vision, and the drive to succeed. He or she should be a compelling leader who embodies entrepreneurial spirit and isn’t afraid to take risks and drive the business forward. This award will be presented at the 2019 Entrepreneurial Summit, to be held at the DuPont Country Club on April 10, 2019.

The deadline to submit an application for the award is March 1, 2019.

Eligibility Criteria:
- The CEO or Business Owner needs to be responsible for the company’s success and to have been in his/her position for a minimum of two years. The business must have been incorporated for at least three years as of December 31, 2018. In select cases, the CEO/President of a subsidiary may also qualify.
- There are certain situations, such as an acquired business, where the subsidiary or divisional CEO/President has a separate P&L and retains substantial vision and authority over strategy and execution of the grand plan for that business and, as a result, can be considered an Entrepreneur.
- Entrepreneurs can also be multi-generational (i.e., business passed from generation to generation). To qualify, the new leader should have exhibited his or her own form of risk and must have also “made their mark” on the family business.
- The CEO or Business Owner’s company must be a member in good standing of the NCC Chamber of Commerce.
