Job Description:
An Account Manager (AM) is a client-facing role whose primary duty is to provide elite client service daily. An AM is a client point of contact for processing coverage changes, billing and claims inquiries, providing proof of insurance and ID cards, generating new coverage quotes, and renewing the client’s policies in the Agency system, Epic. Activities in Epic must consistently be coded correctly for accurate reporting and tracking. An AM should always strive to retain business, round accounts for current clients and seek new business opportunities, while keeping an accurate log of tasks. A big-picture understanding of insurance and BHI clients is required to ensure best value and elite service is provided.    
 
Discretionary responsibilities will be assessed by management and include, but are not limited to:
  • Available to provide customer service to both clients and Advisors during business hours: Monday through Thursday, 8:30am – 4:30pm Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm
  • Corresponds daily and maintains open communication with other team members to ensure clients are serviced accurately and timely
  • Maintains up-to-date client information in Epic
  • Handles all phone calls and walk-in activity by clients, carriers or others
  • Assists in processing new business as necessary in conjunction with client and Advisor
  • Assists in processing renewals in a timely fashion and ensuring all deadlines are met, assists with remarketing, contacts clients and follows-up in conjunction with Advisors, renews policies in accordance with agency standards
  • Processes endorsements
  • Handles cancellations with care, while tracking reasons for cancellation in Epic, works with insureds who wish to cancel in order to "save" the business; confers and negotiates with company underwriters to save underwriting cancellations and remarkets as necessary
  • Prequalifies own new business and adheres to company guidelines for quality business
  • Provides technical support to Advisors for coverage-related items, proposals, suspense items etc. to assist client needs and reach agency's business goals
  • Accurately processes proposals and applications in conjunction with clients, Advisor, and carriers
  • Accurately prepares summaries of insurance schedules and proposals for account review           
  • Informs and educates clients about coverage, exclusions and exposures; documents electronic files accordingly so all files and notes are accessible for anyone servicing the account
  • Effectively rounds client accounts
  • Seeks referrals from client base and provides to Advisors to follow through on new accounts
  • Actively refers clients to other departments to fulfill needs
  • Handles remarketing, quoting, completion of applications, supplemental documents (registry, calculators etc.), deposits with carriers
  • Handles all billing necessary (Direct Bill and Agency Bill)
  • Follows through on ALL open Epic Activities
  • Documents electronic files accordingly and utilize “Notes” section in Agency system, Epic, so all files and notes are accessible for anyone servicing the account
  • Assists and mentors other Account Managers using advanced industry knowledge and experience, responds to AM inquiries by close of business       
  • Contributes to a positive, team atmosphere
  • Assists or completes other tasks as directed by agency management
 
Experience Requirements:
  • At least three years of experience in the insurance industry required, five years preferred
  • Knowledge and proficiency in an agency management system required, Applied Epic 2017 is strongly preferred
  • In depth understanding of different carrier guidelines preferred for efficiency
 Education Requirements:
  • High school diploma or higher. Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required
  • Delaware Insurance License required
