Job Description
JOB TITLE: Communications Director                                                            REPORTS TO: Executive Director
PURPOSE: The Communications Director is responsible for creating, managing, and overseeing the print and online marketing strategy for the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition. This position is responsible for the agency's social media, advertising, and electronic presence. In addition, this position coordinates written and verbal communication with the general public and local media about DBCC's mission and brand. This person also works with special events, partnership events, survivorship and outreach programming, and all other duties as required.
  • BA degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related degree and experience in public relations/communications for a non-profit agency.
  • Excellent spoken and written communications skills.
  • Experience in community relations, public relations and advocacy.
  • Demonstrated competence in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong graphic design skills.
  • Knowledge of WordPress, Expression Engine or comparable program to preform website design and maintenance.
  • Expertise with social media/marketing including: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr, LinkedIn, blogging, and Constant Contact.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and problem-solving skills. Must be a team-player.
  • Broad knowledge or experience with diverse constituencies.
  • Ability to develop and implement multifaceted projects.
  • Ability to execute multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of donor perfect, greater giving, or other donor software is helpful.
  • Basic video and photography skills a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  1. Develop and execute the marketing/advertising/media strategy for the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, including Women’s Mobile Health Screening, Great Stuff Home and Savvy Resale, outreach, survivorship and development programs.
  2. Initiate, develop, coordinate, and distribute communications materials, literature, online resources, videos, press releases, public service announcements, and talking points. Archive all print and online materials about DBCC.
  3. Manage a schedule and budget for all print and online advertisements.
  4. Manage and create content for all agency social media marketing accounts.
  5. Responsible for maintaining and updating the DBCC and Great Stuff websites and all issues relating to the agency’s online presence.
  6. Manage the design of print and electronic marketing materials, along with manage relationships with third-party designers and printers when appropriate.
  7. Assist with the planning and management of DBCC events. Serve on various event committees to provide marketing and communications expertise. Coordinate with local media, chambers of commerce, and other outlets to publicize all events and programs.
  8. Assist with the management of partnership events. Inform and update partners about DBCC's news and events.
 WORKING HOURS: Normal working hours should be scheduled between Monday - Friday from 9:00 - 5:00 although work hours will be scheduled for evenings and weekends depending on the needs of the program and agency events.
