The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, Inc. (“DBCC”) is searching for an enthusiastic, smart, self-motivated communicator to fill a hybrid role in our Development Department.
Commemorating its 25 years of nonprofit service, DBCC is looking for a talented development professional who can help the organization build fundraising infrastructure and procedures and also grow our donor base.  We are looking for someone who is both a creator and an implementer, i.e., someone who comes up with creative ideas and then follows through to execute on those ideas.  Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Development Coordinator will have the main responsibilities listed below. 
Major Job Responsibilities:
  1. Database Management Oversight: Maintain database, run existing reports, design new reports, identify new prospects, review data for trends, develop processes and procedures for thank you notes, donor customer survey, and data entry. Develop and implement a quality control process and customer service model.  Oversee vendor selection process for new contact management system (CMS) and then migration to new system.  Update and clean data as needed.
  2. Cultivation of New Prospects: Provide stellar customer service to new prospects obtained through the annual appeal and special events.
  3. Stewardship: Build strong relationships with active donors and friends of DBCC. Move donors through pipeline from cultivation into solicitation at the annual fund level and through events.  Develop a process for thank you notes and donor customer survey.  Be willing to make direct “Ask” after cultivation.
  4. Oversight and Tracking of Community Fundraising ActivitiesEvaluate, enhance and streamline the current processes through which we encourage, foster and track fundraising activities that external partners do on DBCC’s behalf.
  5. Assistance with Special Events.  Partner with other employees, committee members, volunteers and perhaps even special events subcontractors to design and implement creative, fun and profitable special events.  Coordinate with vendors.  Solicit sponsors.  Manage logistics.  Be held accountable to budget.
  6. Other Duties as Assigned.  Pitch in to do whatever else is needed to help the organization thrive. 
Essential Duties:
  • Establish and manage information tracking processes regarding acknowledgement and recognition of donors.
  • Oversee selection of new CMS and migration to new system.
  • Assist in processing checks.
  • Take the lead on managing the thank you letter system.
  • Maintain on-going communication and continued cultivation of past and current major donors to enhance their relationship with DBCC which will hopefully increase the likelihood of continued contributions.
  • Work with the established donor relations program already in place to make it more comprehensive.
  • Provide donor and gift information for the annual report.
  • Oversee production of the donor roll call for publications and the website, determine the report recipients, and facilitate mailing lists.
  • Assist as needed on data for grants and support for program staff with regard to mailing lists from the database.
  • Provide leadership around special events for logistics and follow-up with vendors.
  • Directly solicit donors for contributions after cultivation.
