Delaware Institute For The Arts In Education (DIAE)
DiAE mission is to enhance the quality of education in Delaware by delivering integrated multicultural experiences to students of all ages, inspiring the artist within. Our models of aesthetic, hands-on learning through the arts give students an opportunity to experience the creative decision making and critical thinking necessary to see beyond their circumstances and make connections with the world around them.
Delaware Wolf Trap (DWT) is a partnership between a Wolf Trap Teaching Artist and an early childhood educator to provide professional development for teachers in the classroom while engaging children in music, dance, and imaginative play. A typical 16-session residency uses arts-integrated strategies to promote literacy and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) development that teachers can use to foster young children’s learning and development.
K-12 Residencies: We bring dance, music, theatre, and visual arts professional Teaching Artists (TAs) and performers into Delaware public, private, and charter schools. Each residency explores an art form that culminates in a final performance or work of art. In preparation, TAs collaborate with teachers to customize a series of in-class workshops that address Delaware Common Core State Standards and Delaware Standards for Visual & Performing Arts while offering opportunities for students to explore, create, and reflect on the art form.
Professional Development: workshop opportunities for teachers to implement Delaware Standards for Visual & Performing Arts with innovative, hands-on art experiences.
