30th Annual Ocean to Bay Bike Tour Gears up for April 26th & 27th

Celebrating its 30th Anniversary, the Ocean to Bay Bike Tour presented by NVHomes/Ryan Homes and hosted by the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce is slated for April 26th & 27th. The popular show-and-go tour brings over 2,500 cyclists to the Quiet Resorts each spring, and will kick off on Friday, April 27th with the 15 mile Friday Fun Ride, taking cyclists from downtown Bethany Beach to the Indian River Inlet and back – featuring a stop at the Big Chill Beach Club.

“Last year was our first time offering the Friday Fun Ride,” says Lauren Weaver, Executive Director of the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce and Race Director for the annual cycling event. “In its first year, the ride was only offered to cyclists who were signed up to ride on Saturday. This year we opened the 15-mile Friday Fun Ride for individual registration, meaning cyclists do not have to be signed up for the Saturday event in order to ride on Friday.”

On Saturday, the main event kicks off with the ceremonial start at 7:00 am in downtown Bethany Beach. Participants will complete 30-mile, 50-mile, metric century, or century courses, traveling throughout the scenic beach and bay locales of southern Delaware. Registrants will have access to bike mechanics provided by Lifecycle, and rest stops along each route offer restrooms, food and beverages, and SAG wagon support available to cyclists from 7:30 am through 2:30 pm.

The supporting sponsors of the event, including Bayside, a Carl M. Freeman Company Community; Bishop’s Landing of Beazer Homes; K. Hovnanian Homes at Ocean View Beach Club; PNC Bank; and Big Chill Beach Club, have played an active role in enhancing the overall experience the Ocean to Bay Bike Tour.

“The partnerships with all of our sponsors and businesses have grown the event into a weekend affair,” said Weaver, “With the majority of our cyclists coming from out of the area, people come to enjoy the Quiet Resorts for the entire weekend.”

After the ride, participants are invited to the Continue the Tour Post Party with live entertainment as well as food, beverages, and vendors. Cyclists and their families and friends can add to the fun by tagging their photos with #OceanToBay on social media.

Registration is open, and current prices will increase on April 1. Registration closes April 20, and this year’s event is expected to sell out. No day-of registration will be offered. Visit oceantobaybiketour.com for complete information and to register.
