New Castle, DE – Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore and CAMP Rehoboth are teaming up to provide the Savvy Caregiver series this fall. The classes, which aim to provide knowledge and skills essential to those who are caring for a loved one living with Alzheimer’s or dementia, begin October 18 and continue weekly through November 8. The classes will take place at CAMP Rehoboth, located at 37 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE.

“CAMP Rehoboth is excited about this partnership with Easterseals and to bring the Savvy Caregiver series to the community in Rehoboth Beach. As more members of the community are acting as caregivers to loved ones, there is a need for this class to teach them better caregiving skills,” Salvator Seeley, health and wellness director for CAMP Rehoboth, said. “This class comes at a time when we’ve had an influx of LGBTQ community members calling and asking about resources for someone they are taking care of with dementia or Alzheimer’s.”

The classes are scheduled from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. to accommodate working caregivers’ schedules. The series will present information on how to create a more fulfilling life for your loved one(s) and maintain a healthy balance in your own life. A light dinner will be provided.

In addition to the Savvy Caregiver classes, Easterseals has a number of supports for caregivers, such as the Caregiver Resource Center and grants for respite care.
