Meet Chamber Member Alex Groop

Professional History and Experience:
I am a residential REALTOR® serving New Castle, Cecil, and Chester counties. I started in real estate in September of 2017 and joined Berkshire Hathaway Fox & Roach. I have been able to help family, friends, and clients who have become friends find everything from their first home to their dream homes. Since 2019 I have been recognized among the top 15% of all Berkshire Hathaway Home Services agents nationally.

I work with two types of clients, buyers and sellers. Currently, we are experiencing a very low inventory of homes. To do the best job possible for my buyers, I am not only showing them what is actively listed on the market that fits their needs, but I am also searching for off-market opportunities that can help them find a home without competition. I offer an aggressive marketing strategy for my sellers to help them sell their homes quickly and for as much money as possible.

How do I help families overcome their worries during a health pandemic? Most people’s number one concern right now is their health and safety. The real estate industry as a whole has taken some steps to help calm people’s fears and limit everyone’s exposure. At home showings, masks are required, and we remain socially distant throughout the tour.

Gone (for now) are the days of bringing your parents along for the tour to help make the decisions. I am trying to go above and beyond by offering virtual tours on all of my listings and having given Facetime/Zoom tours to buyers to help limit their exposure and minimize the number of people in the seller’s home. The most significant shift in my business has been the virtual tours and consultations. From a health perspective, it dramatically limits exposure. It also has the bonus of convenience for my clients.

As we all know, the web is where everyone’s home search begins. Professional photography goes a long way to making a great first impression, as does a high-quality video tour. I advertise my listings on Facebook, Instagram. I have also started a weekly video series for Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. The series includes real estate tips, answers questions, and provides market updates. It will also feature local businesses and charities so that anyone considering a move can get a feel for what our community has to offer.

What qualities do I believe to make an excellent real estate agent? Empathy, discipline, and creativity.

Chamber Experience:
I joined the Chamber in October of 2018. I was invited to a networking group by a friend who was a Chamber member and was hooked from the first meeting I attended. It was exciting to get out of my office for a while and connect with people in other industries looking to grow their business.

As a member, I have enjoyed the networking aspects of the Chamber. Golf tournaments, cigar nights, and especially the referral groups. I love receiving the referrals, but it’s just an excellent opportunity to connect my family, friends, and clients to some great local businesses and people I have met at the Chamber.

Personal Story:
When I was younger, I was a reasonably good soccer player. One year my youth team traveled to Gothenburg, Sweden, to play in the Gothia Cup, the largest and most international youth soccer tournament globally.

The majority of my time off is spent with my amazing wife, Kate, and our four children (Adelaide, Josiah, Hudson, and Ewan). If I’m not enjoying time with my family, you will either find me on a golf course, jamming on my bass, or watching soccer, basketball, or football.

Words of Encouragement from Alex:
These are unprecedented times. Many things are outside of our control. Focus on what you can control and ways that you can move your business forward. The small steps we take now will have a significant impact down the road.
