Member Spotlight- 3&D Sports Performance

3&D Sports Performance is a training facility located on the mezzanine of the Grail Sports Complex in Elsmere, De. 3&D is dedicated to providing sports-specific training services with a special focus on injury prevention, nutrition, and recovery to athletes and the adult population. Their mission is to provide a holistic or “3 Dimensional” approach backed by science and fill in the missing gap where the traditional sports training model falls short. In addition, they provide a unique experience to their members through specialized barefoot training, functional total body strength, and recovery methods.
Their coaching style focuses on delivering data-driven results for the athletes and serving the adult population with their “infinite athlete” class. Here adults of all ages train like athletes because once you’re an athlete, you’re always an athlete. The small group personal training classes are the best of both worlds - customized programming within a team atmosphere. The adult boot camp is unlike any other adult training program because it puts adults through a functional athletic program focusing on fixing common “office injuries.”
Lovell and Raychel are co-owners with backgrounds that make a powerful combination. Lovell is originally from Delaware, where he was the captain of the State Champion Christiana High School Basketball team. Lovell was also a 2-sport collegiate athlete in basketball and track. Raychel is from New York, where she was a 2x conference champion at Queens College and later played professional basketball in several European countries. Lovell and Raychel have their Master’s degrees in Nutrition, Exercise Science, and certifications from NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association) and USA-Weightlifting Certification with over 15-years of professional experience training athletes from the youth to NBA and NFL level.
The genesis of 3&D began last year when Lovell received a phone call from Rob Brown, the director of Nike EYBL Team Final, the number 1 ranked AAU basketball program in the country. Lovell has been the strength and conditioning coach for Team Final for several years. The program decided to use the Grail Sports complex as their home gym, and Rob Brown asked Lovell if he could relocate to Delaware to open up his own gym within the sports complex. At the time, Lovell was already running a sports performance gym in Pennsylvania for the last 3-years, so when the opportunity presented itself to open his own gym, it was a no-brainer.
What makes 3&D Sports Performance different from other commercial gyms is their training philosophy, coaching experience, education, and level of personalization. They train athletes and clients for durability and not just ability by using a data-driven approach. Each client has a unique program designed for their long-term success towards their athletic goals. A unique style of training is offered that has been crafted over years of coaching athletes from the youth to the professional level. These services include barefoot training, landing mechanics, vertical jump programs, red light therapy, cupping, and more.
"We first found out about the Chamber through Yvonne Deadwyler, the Chamber’s Director of Member Relations. 3&D Sports Performance trains Yvonne's son Ricky, who currently is on the Men's Basketball team at Delaware State University. Yvonne invited us to the Chamber’s Open House event, and we were greeted with a warm welcome from the current members. After speaking with several members, we quickly realized that the NCCC was a place where small business owners can thrive by growing, networking, and developing strong relationships that will help their business’ bottom line.
The Chamber has allowed our business to extend its reach to a larger audience of potential clients and athletes. As a business owner, your schedule can become extremely hectic, allowing events and networking opportunities to pass you by. Still, with the help of the Chamber, we have attended several state and county event schedules. These events have directly correlated towards bringing in revenue for our business. The Chamber also does a great job of presenting the different things or events that the members are planning and several other opportunities throughout the year for business owners to continue to connect and discover.
The world of being a business owner can be lonely. There are a lot of unknown elements and the learning curve in business results in a loss of money or time. However, being a part of the Chamber has made us feel like we’re a part of something bigger than ourselves or even a family. Joining this family has truly been a game-changer for the betterment of our business, and we haven’t looked back since," Lovell Kosh.
