DESCRIPTION:For most people betting on sports and playing video games are harmless forms of entertainment.  But for some\, sports gambling and gaming are serious problems\, and may be devastating to them as well as their loved ones.  Recently people in Delaware and nationwide have seen a dramatic expansion of sports betting and a marked proliferation in gaming\, especially among our youth.  For this reason\, the Delaware Council on Gambling Problems will devote its 3rd Annual Problem Gambling Awareness Conference on Sports Betting and Gaming.  \n\n\n\nOur speakers include a former NFL player and a former NCAA Division 1 athlete\, both in recovery from gambling addiction\; a successful entrepreneur who overcame gaming disorder to develop the world's largest support community for video game addiction\; a nationally certified gambling counselor and board certified clinical consultant who provides treatment specific to sports gambling addiction\; and Athletic/Compliance Directors from Delaware State University\, University of Delaware and Villanova University who will discuss the impact of sports betting on college athletes and game integrity. \nThis conference will explore the need for developing strategies to combat the rise of gambling disorder\, in view of the expansion of legalized sports betting\, gaming disorder and the increasingly blurred lines between what is considered gaming and gambling.  \n\n\n\nAudience\n\nMental heath professionals\;\n\ncollegiate coaches\, compliance directors and athletic advisors\; \n\nschool teachers\, counselors and administrators\; social workers\; recovery specialists and all those interested in learning about problem gambling and gaming.\n\n\n\nDelaware Certification Board approved this program for 5.5 hours of CEU credits.\n\n\n\nFor tickets\, register online at dcgpconference.eventbrite.com\, or call DCGP at 302-655-3261.
