When you meet Troy Makous, it becomes clear that his mission extends far beyond helping students solve equations. Troy is passionate about building confidence, developing critical thinking skills, and showing every child that they can succeed in math with the right support.
Mathnasium of Pike Creek provides personalized, assessment-based math instruction for students in grades 1–12. Their approach helps students catch up, keep up, and get ahead while transforming the way they feel about math.
Troy brings an impressive background to his work. He earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, spent years in engineering and software, and trained extensively at one of the top-performing Mathnasium centers in the Philadelphia area before opening his own center in Delaware.
What stands out most about Troy is his genuine belief that math is not just about numbers.
It's about helping young people develop the confidence to tackle challenges in school and in life.
As Troy puts it, every child can be a “math kid.”
