                     The Delaware Manufacturing Extension Partnership (DEMEP) Presents How to Take a Strategic Approach to Supply Chain Optimization Within the National Supply Chain Optimization progra, DEMEP is your only local resource able to help you focus on the critical areas of the supply chain at all levels; from the top tier through all supporting tiers and value chains, down to the lowest tier. Critical:     Better total cost of ownership decisions Increase effectiveness of ERP/MRP Mitigate global risks Reduce/manage volatility Expand supplier matching capabilities to source for emergent needs Improve OEM/Supplier product development collaboration   Highly Important   Document supply chain strategy Align supply chain metrics with long-term business focus Identify and adress choke points in a sustainable manner Optimization of supply chain Recognize the emergent needs for future capabilities and technology Enhance value chain collaboration among suppliers, OEMs and customers     A study by Georgia Tech showed that a company's stock price drops up to 8% when they experience a glitch in their supply chain. A study by Bain & Company showed that companies emplying focused sophisticated supply chain methods enjoyed 12 times greater profits then companies with unsophisticated methods. Accenture Consulting research shows a supply chain can account for 50% to 70% of a manufacturer's total cost of doing business and more than 50% of its assets.
