Come listen to an amazing professor! Dr John Gray from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business: Are All Generic Drugs Created Equal? Generic drugs with the same active ingredient, dosage form, and route of administration are assumed to be interchangeable. Under this assumption, both users and providers rarely concern themselves with who manufacturers the drugs they consume or prescribe. However, there is growing anecdotal evidence that where a drug is manufactured may impact the quality of the drug in use. The main presentation will focus on a large-scale empirical study which finds that there are systematic differences in quality between drugs made in different geographic locations. I will also report on on-going empirical testing of possible policy solutions.
