Join us and the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce for the 2025 State of the Guard briefing to our community, hosted by Brigadier General Michael J. Karwatka, Director of the Joint Staff for the Delaware National Guard. This year’s stage is the Major “Beau” Biden National Guard Reserve Center in New Castle, DE. The building is home to the leadership and key directorates of the Guard serving as its Joint Force Headquarters and named for the late Major “Beau” Biden who served honorably in the Delaware Army National Guard.
This year’s State of the Guard briefing will feature the Delaware National Guard’s Counterdrug Task Force who have a mission to support the detection, interdiction, disruption, and curtailment of drug trafficking activities and use through the application of military unique skills and resources. The Task Force aims to bridge the divide between civilian law enforcement and the military to address drug threats. The Task Force FY2024 operations comprised of a $1.4 million budget and 14 uniformed members from the Army and Air Guard. The National Guard Counterdrug Program is the catalysts for synchronized cooperation between and among Department of Defense and federal, state and local agencies across the full spectrum of counterdrug homeland defense operations. Support in Delaware was given to five Law Enforcement Agencies and focused on four key areas: National Guard Counterdrug Criminal Analysts, Counterdrug Training, Counterdrug Drug Demand Reduction, and Counterdrug Aviation.
Following the program, attendees may tour the capability demonstrations and equipment the Counterdrug Task Force will have on display for our attendees to learn more.
