First State Ballet Theatre Presents TRIPLE BILL at The Grand Opera House from FEBRUARY 21 - 23, 2024.
Wilmington, DE - First State Ballet Theatre presents TRIPLE BILL from February 21 - 23, 2024 in the Baby Grand Theater at The Grand. Tickets are on sale via The Grand’s Box Office.
Triple Bill is an evening of new work with three World Premiere ballets by choreographers Viktor Plotnikov, Blake Krapels, and Carlos Martinez.
Viktor Plotnikov was born in Kharkov City, Ukraine and graduated from the Vaganova Ballet Academy with FSBT Artistic Director Pasha Kambalov. Plotnikov is a frequent FSBT collaborator who has created many works for the company, including two full-length ballets, Dracula and Romeo & Juliet, and last season’s “Wings,” as part of Triple Bill in February 2024. Blake Krapels brings a collaborative approach and contemporary dance perspective to FSBT as co-founder of The Sonder Space, a dance company in Philadelphia, and four year alum of the groundbreaking BalletX. Carlos Martinez, who delights audiences each season onstage as an FSBT dancer, will take on a new role as choreographer as he creates his first ballet for FSBT.
“I am proud to present a program of entirely new work here in Wilmington. As Delaware’s professional ballet company, FSBT performs an exciting range of ballet each season - from beloved classics to inventive contemporary pieces. Audiences are in for a treat with Triple Bill,” shares Executive Director Kristina Kambalov.
“It is hugely inspiring for our dancers to get to work with choreographers like Viktor, Blake, and Carlos. Creating new work extends our dancers’ creativity, and I am excited for audiences to see the range of their artistry,” says Artistic Director Pasha Kambalov.
