Wilmington, DE — The Tech Council of Delaware's Board of Directors and Zakiyyah Ali jointly announce that Zakiyyah will be stepping down from her role as Chief Executive Officer. As the founding CEO, Zakiyyah made significant contributions and was the driving force in establishing the organization and advancing its mission. We are profoundly grateful for her vision, leadership, and dedication during her tenure. The Board acknowledges and appreciates Zakiyyah’s many contributions.
During her nearly four years of leadership, Zakiyyah played a key role in the formation of the Council as a subsidiary of Rodel and led its subsequent spin-off into an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to tech workforce development and policy and advocacy. She was also instrumental in the development and execution of several programs and initiatives including the Yes, We Tech! internship program, American Dream Academy, Tri-State Workforce Consortium, and the design of the Workforce Center for Precision Medicine, all of which have been crucial to positioning the organization as an industry exemplar in Delaware and Greater Philadelphia Region. Her leadership has prepared the organization for future success by expanding the Council’s brand and creating a solid foundation on which we can continue to build.
As we prepare for this transition, the Board is focused on ensuring continuity and sustained momentum. Our immediate priorities are to maintain the excellence of our programs and partnerships and to achieve the long-term vision and impact of the Council.
Effective October 13, 2025, the Board is pleased to announce that our COO, Joshua Berkow, has been appointed Interim CEO.
Josh has been an invaluable member of our leadership team and possesses a deep understanding of our mission and operations. Josh brings nearly two decades of leadership experience spanning the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. His cross-sector expertise and proven track record in operations, program management, and partnership development have been instrumental in advancing the Council’s mission and strengthening Delaware’s tech ecosystem. The Board has full confidence in Josh's ability to lead the organization during this transition.
We are deeply grateful for Zakiyyah Ali's foundational service and wish her the very best in her future endeavors. We look forward to a seamless transition and are excited about the future of TCD.
