Wilmington, Del. — October 19, 2026 — The New Castle County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the appointment of Alexa Adams as its new Director of Economic Development. In this role, Adams will lead the Chamber’s economic development efforts, strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, and advocate for policies and initiatives that support business growth and economic prosperity throughout New Castle County.
Adams joins the Chamber from the Delaware House of Representatives, where she currently serves as Director of Speaker Affairs for Speaker Melissa Minor-Brown. In this role, she manages the Speaker’s office and leads major initiatives and outreach focused on issues impacting working families and businesses, including healthcare, childcare, and economic security.
Over nearly six years in the Delaware General Assembly, Adams has worked with elected officials across New Castle County and built strong relationships with community leaders, businesses, state agencies, and industry stakeholders. Her experience working alongside legislators on the Joint Finance Committee and Joint Capital Improvement Committee has also provided her with valuable insight into the state budget, grant funding, and capital investments—knowledge that will help advance economic development opportunities and strengthen connections between the public and private sectors.
“Alexa brings a valuable combination of legislative experience, community engagement, and a strong understanding of the issues that impact Delaware’s business community,” said Yvonne Deadwyler, President and CEO of the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce. “Her ability to build relationships, navigate state government, and collaborate with stakeholders will be a tremendous asset to the Chamber and our members. We are excited to welcome Alexa to the team as we continue to champion economic growth and create new opportunities for businesses throughout New Castle County.”
In her new position, Adams will build upon the Chamber’s ongoing economic development initiatives, continuing the important work led by Emma Odren, the Chamber’s previous Director of Economic Development, while identifying new opportunities for collaboration, business growth, and regional investment. Through advocacy, strategic partnerships, and engagement with public and private sector leaders, she will help ensure the Chamber remains a strong voice for the businesses and communities it serves.
For 100 years, the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce has helped Delaware businesses build awareness, grow revenue, and develop meaningful business relationships. Through its programs, initiatives, and partnerships, the Chamber supports the business community while enhancing the quality of life for those who live, work, and play in New Castle County. Adams’ appointment reflects the Chamber’s continued commitment to advancing a strong, connected, and thriving regional economy.
