Newark Food and Brew Festival Turns 21 on July 26

Newark DE- Out & About Magazine and The Newark Partnership (TNP) are proud to partner on what has become a summer tradition: the Downtown Newark Food and Brew Festival. The 21st annual festival will take place on Saturday, July 26, from noon-7p.m., at 10 venues scattered around Newark’s central business district.

“The Newark Partnership is always happy to sponsor Food & Brew,” says Ali DeAngelis, Interim Executive Director at TNP. “This year we even get the privilege to celebrate its 21st year. As someone who celebrated their 21st birthday at Santa Fe and Deer Park Tavern, this year’s festival feels extra special!”

Food and Brew showcases more than 45 craft and imported beers paired with creative food offerings from Newark restaurants. Unlike most beer festivals, this is a pay-as-you-go event that takes place at restaurants. In addition to food and drink, a collection of Newark retailers will be offering exclusive discounts during the festival as part of the Hops & Shops Sidewalk Sale. A commemorative mug will be given free to the first 2,000 attendees. And this year’s Food & Brew Passport awards some lucky attendees gift certificates to participating restaurants if they have their passport stamped at 5 or more of the venues.

“The Newark Food & Brew has become a rite of summer,” said Jerry duPhily, publisher of Out & About Magazine. “When we partnered with the City of Newark to create this event more than 20 years ago, craft-beer focused events were a novelty. Today, they’re commonplace. But the beauty of this event is that it encourages guests to explore Newark and visit the many participating restaurants. It’s an ideal showcase for the city’s dining scene.”
