CHAMBER OPPOSES BURDENSOME ORDINANCE BEFORE CITY COUNCIL, MEASURE ON HOLD

Ordinance #4561, which would impose costly and burdensome regulatory requirements on most affordable housing projects, as well as the contractors who perform the work, is on hold. The ordinance was on the City Council Agenda for October 4. It did not come to a vote that evening.

The New Castle County Chamber of Commerce, Associated Builders and Contractors, the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce and other business groups and housing advocates oppose the legislation, as it would curb the growth of residential housing in the City and increase its costs. The ordinance would also disadvantage smaller firms, a category which includes a number of women and minority owned enterprises.

We will continue to monitor this legislation and update our members.
