Chamber to Honor Esther Rich of Special Touch Card Creations as Ambassador of the Year
Chamber Ambassadors are the link in maintaining strong member relations. A dedicated group of volunteers, the Ambassadors donate their time and energy to provide customer service to fellow members and serve as the public relations arm of the Chamber. The overall purpose of the Ambassador program to recruit new members, help orient the newest Chamber members, and to assist staff with membership retention.
2018 Ambassador of the Year is Esther Rich of Special Touch Card Creations! Esther came from a blue collar family and never heard of the word Entrepreneur in her household. The only crafty projects she ever did growing up was to learn how to sew and actually made a few dresses. After graduating from West Catholic Girls High School in 1972, her journey in the real word of full-time employment began. Esther started as a clerk-typist for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania., Department of Public Assistance and worked her way up to Supervisor. She retired as an Administrative Officer 6/2005 after 32 years of service.
Through the 1MillionCup program at Delaware Technical College, Esther heard of an event being held by the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce. She joined the Chamber April of 2014 and her new life of networking began. The following May of 2015, Esther was chosen to be a Chamber Ambassador by her Mentor, Matt Doyle. Esther loves helping members transition with their new membership, introducing them and connecting them with their next customer.
In September 2014, Esther joined the Melaleuca business looking for another way to be successful. After 2 years, and with her 62nd birthday approaching, Esther realized that she needed to do what made her happy.
In August 2016, Special Touch Card Creations, Your One-Of-A-Kind Greeting, was launched at the Chamber's Women In Networking Event. "I love being able to design and create beautiful greeting cards, personalizing them for my customers so that their intended receiver is being given a greeting card that they will treasure as a keepsake," said Esther. Since celebrating her 1-year anniversary in 2017, Esther realized that personalized greeting cards are just one piece of what she can design and create. Esther began designing unique one-of-a-kind thank-you cards for business owners who would like to express their gratitude to their customers and clients.
Esther is serving as the Ambassador Chairwoman for 2018 and has been chosen as the Ambassador of the Year for 2018. Esther said, "I'm so excited to not just be a member of one of the best Chambers in Delaware, but also to represent them and serve in capacities where needed. The staff and the members have become family to me and I have made relationships that I will have for the rest of my life. Thank you New Castle County Chamber of Commerce for being an integral part of my life!"
Through Facebook, Esther, reconnected with Husband #2, Paul Rich October 2011, who loved her enough to leave the palm trees and white sand of Palm Beach, Florida. They were married December 1, 2012 and since Esther did not want to move to Florida, she said pick a state and he picked Delaware. That is how they became Delawareans in June 2013. Esther has been blessed with three husbands and five beautiful children; Tavia, Damon, Christina, Paul IV and Danielle. She has five grandchildren,Tionna, Shawn, Amaya, Gabby and Semaj.
